One free personal item not larger than 14″L x 9”W x 9.5″H (35 cm x 23 cm x 24 cm) that can be safely stowed under a seat. Examples of personal items include a purse, briefcase, laptop computer case, small backpack or small camera case.
One carry-on bag is permitted in the aircraft cabin for a fee. The carry-on bag must fit into an overhead bin and be no larger than 22”L x 9”W x 14”H (56 cm x 22 cm x 35 cm) and weigh not more than 35 pounds (15 kilograms). Examples of a carry-on bag include a roller bag, garment bag, large backpack, tote bag (in all cases capable of being safely stowed in an overhead bin). Avelo Airlines (formerly Xtra Airways) is an American low-cost airline based in Houston.Avelo Airlines was founded in 1987 under the name Casino Express. She initially flew scheduled flights for the Red Lion Hotel and Casino. After Red Lion ceased operations on February 1, 2005, investors took over the airline and converted it into a charter airline. At the same time, the name was changed to Xtra Airways. In December 2014, the airline was taken over by AerLine Holdings, Inc. In 2015, it relocated from Boise Airport in Idaho to Miami International Airport in Florida to be closer to customers. In 2018 the decision was made to reduce the fleet from eight to one aircraft by May of the same year before the company was subsequently put up for sale by AerLine Holdings, Inc.
In 2018, former Allegiant Air CEO Andrew Levy acquired the airline. The company was renamed Avelo Airlines, the base was moved to Burbank, Los Angeles, and the headquarters to Houston. The company is no longer geared towards charter flights, but as a low-cost airline.
Commercial operations under the Avelo Airlines name began on April 28, 2021 with a flight from Hollywood Burbank Airport to Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. On November 3, 2021, Avelo Airlines operated its first commercial flight at Tweed-New Haven Airport, which serves as the airline’s East Coast base.
The company offers scheduled flights from Hollywood Burbank Airport to the states of Colorado, California, Oregon, Utah and Washington. In addition, flights are offered from Las Vegas to the states of Colorado, California and Utah. There are also flights from Tweed-New Haven Airport to the states of Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee.
