Akasa Air: History
In July 2021, Indian billionaire trader Rakesh Jhunjhunwala invested $35 million to buy a 40% stake in the carrier.
In October 2021, Akasa Air received a no-objection certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The airline started flying after receiving its Air Operator Certificate (AOC). Akasa Air uses the Boeing 737 MAX for its operations and said it plans to commission around 70 of these aircraft in the next four years.
On 22 December 2021, the airline unveiled its corporate identity and logo with the slogan It’s Your Sky. The «rising A» symbol, part of their logo, was inspired by elements of the sky, including the warmth of the rising sun, the light flight of a bird and the reliability of an aircraft wing. Their «Sunrise Orange» and «Passionate Purple» colours were chosen to reflect the warm, youthful and respectful nature of the airline.
